Sugar Bowl 8:45 kickoff time - why not 1pm?

Why in the world aren't they playing this game at 1PM given it is a holiday? I get that the Rose Bowl wants the 5pm EST kickoff because of tradition and all, but it seems like the Sugar would draw more casual viewers during the day.
