The Corky Kell Classic is an annual series of high school football games and will be played at Mercer University, McEachern HS and the Georgia Dome. It is played at the beginning of each GHSA football season featuring several of the state's top teams.

This season's matchups and UGA commits/prospects involved below. Thursday's games will be televised on Fox Sports South. Friday and Saturday games will air on Fox Sports Southeast.

Thursday Night 8/18 (Mercer)
Mary Persons vs. Houston County 5:45 p.m.
This is the big one. UGA QB commit Jake Fromm vs. UGA big-time DL prospect Malik Herring.
Malik has joked in the past that if Fromm throws for 300 or more yards then he will commit to UGA on the spot. Will get REAL interesting if Herring comes off the edge with a free hit on Fromm to see if he pulls up a little on his friend. HC's 2018 OL Trey Hill is also a big-time 2018 prospect for the Dawgs.

Lee County vs. Jones County 8:30 p.m.
Michigan commit Aubrey Solomon, at one time considered a UGA lean, will suit up for the Trojans, one of eight returning starters on D. 4* Lee Co. Safety Otis Reese also committed to Michigan after Harbaugh held his satellite camp in Leesburg. Solomon reportedly still plans to visit UGA a few times this fall.

Friday Night 8/19 (McEachern)
Roswell vs. Buford 5:45 p.m.
Class AAAAAAA powerhouse and defending state runner-up Roswell vs. perenial powerhouse and Class AAAA State Championship runner-up Buford. Roswell is loaded with D-1 talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Xavier McKinney at S and Clemson commit LeAnthony Williams at CB patrol the secondary. On the offensive side, quarterback Malik Willis is a Va Tech commit and OL Jordan Tucker is committed to the Vols. Sheldon Evans is an underappreciated RB for the Hornets and Roswell has a par of big 3* WRs in Jayden Comma and Corey Reed spread wide.
Buford is led by returning starters including twin sons of GT DC Roof - QB Mic Roof and GA tech 3* commit LB T.D. Roof, also Christian Turner, Joshua Blackwell, 2018 RB Anthony Grant and Jake Simpson. Also keep an eye on 2019 lineman Quentin Skinner.
This will be the first time Buford and Roswell face off since 1983 and will be one to watch.

S Forsyth vs. Hillgrove 8:45 p.m.
S Forsyth is coming off a state quarterfinals shootout with Colquitt County the lost 49-31.
South Forsyth's QB Davis Shanley is committed to Western Kentucky
per @wellis2911 - Hillgrove has a couple of prospects who will be DI ballplayers:
-Jaylen McCullough - sophomore that is making the transition from running back to safety
-Chig Okonkwo - WR w/ really good length and athleticism

Saturday 8/20 (Georgia Dome)
Tucker vs. Kell 9AM
Tucker's defense is led by DI prospects Aaron Sterling (current Bama commit), Brian Strozier Jr. and Derrick McLendon. QB Keith Best also has an SEC offer (KY). Kell is led by 3* LB Vols Commit Solon Page.

N Gwinnett vs. Brookwood 11:45AM
The man to watch here for UGA recruitniks is 4* 6-foot-4 LB Leonard Warner, said on this site to be a heavy UGA lean. The Bulldogs will be led by recent Texas A&M QB Commit Cade Fortin who last season threw for 1,475 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Walton vs. Norcross 2:45PM
Super sophomore Dominick Blaylock is the one to watch for the Raiders. As a freshman he recorded 795 receiving yards, eight touchdowns and averaged 23 yards on punt returns. The son of former NBA player Mookie Blaylock is considered at this time to be a big UGA lean.
Robert Beal has of course left Norcross for IMG but 3* Jalen Pinkney could be the man to watch in Beal's absence.

Colquitt Co vs. Mill Creek 5:45PM

This will be one to watch too. The defending state champs vs. the largest (student body size) high school in Georgia. A rematch from last year's Class AAAAAA playoff game won by the Packers.
Controversial Colquitt County head coach Rush Propst's team will be led by quarterback Jay Saunders. Seniors Tory Ponder and Ty Powell are two of the main receiving threats for Colquitt. On D for the Packers keep an eye on LB J.J. Peterson.
Mill Creek's biggest star is Virginia commit OL Tyler Fannin.

Archer vs. McEachern 8:45PM
Even though Archer lost a LOT of talent with departed Seniors and transfers (as well documented) to nearby Grayson, this Class AAAAAA state playoffs second round rematch will be a good one. McEachern is of course led by former UGA, now FSU commit QB Bailey Hockman. The backfield of Quay Holmes and Paris Brown will try to make up for the loss of Tyler Simmons. The Indians' CB Jaytlin Askew is a GA tech commit.
Archer will of course miss Jamyest Williams & KD, but Taiyon Palmer, Jalyn Phillips, Quinn Miller and Andrew Booth will lead the defense. Receivers Malik Sproles (6-foot-1) and John Bluse (6-foot-3) and TE Brandon Shelnutt (6-foot-4) all are over 6'.

Anyone going to these games? Got more insight to add?
