Update: My wonderful wife put said new coffee cup in the dishwasher before she went to bed last night, set it to high temperature and on the heavy duty setting because there were pots and pans needing an extra long blast of water and steam, and... low and behold, the new coffee cup survived the water crematorium untarnished! Glory be to God.
So...by applying infallible logic and the irrefutable emperical evidence, if a new coffee cup does NOT say it's NOT dishwasher safe, it must be. Double negatives be damned.
