Depth. And this is how we stay at the top going forward. For a while now, I beleived that we wouldn't be able to win many head to head battles for 5 stars... but we could really rack up the guys ranked between 50 and 250... and that's exactly what we did. In grand fashion. We held serve and got a comparable number of top 100 to 250 players compared to last year, while the other top teams dropped off considerably.
Yes. We have four composite 5 🌟 players. But we got TEN players ranked in the composite top 100 and twenty TWENTY ONE in the composite top 250. For comparison the rest of the top ten had the following composite numbers.
#2 BAMA: three 5 stars, seven top 100, fourteen top 250 players.
#3 MIAMUH: Two 5 stars, seven top 100, eleven top 250 players
#4 tOSU: Five 5 stars, seven top 100, ten top 250 players
#5 TEXAS: Four 5 stars, six top 100, ten top 250 players
#6 OREGON: Zero 5 stars, six top 100, thirteen top 250 players
#7 AUBURN: Two 5 stars, five top 100, eleven top 250 players.
#8 OKLAHOMA: ONE 5 star, four top 100, ten top 250 players
#9 FSU: Two 5 star, five top 100, ten top 250 players
#10 Notre Dame: One 5 star, four top 100, nine top 250 players.
The wealth was really spread. The rest of the top twenty teams looked similar to most of the top ten. For perspective on how much the rest of the top teams dropped in quality this year, last year BAMA had nine 5 stars, fourteen top 100, twenty two top 250, tOSU had one 5 star, seven top 100, fourteen top 250 and TEXAS had four 5 stars, eight in the top 100 and fourteen in the top 250 respectively.
And yes. Our five stars dropped this year from 5 to 4, and our top 100 guys dropped from 12 to 10... but we held serve at TWENTY ONE top 250 players. Every other usual player at the top dropped dramatically.
The staff pulled off something that is very hard to do in today's game.
