If you want to look at why we have dropped off some, look no further than our offensive talent. On those 21-22 teams you had guys like Bowers, McConkey, Pickens, Burton, and Mitchell. All of those guys got drafted high. Fast forward to today and you have none of that at WR. At RB we had James Cook who was underutilized here but you see what he is doing in the NFL. Go back and look at the run we had early on with Kirby at OL. We put several guys in the first round at OL but we have nobody now that will sniff the 2nd-3rd round. Kirby spends the bulk of his money on defense. He has always done that but he will have to change some of that moving forward. We need to hit more on the guys we recruit on the offensive side. I don’t know how they go about revisiting their evaluations and why they missed but they need to look at this. Now more than ever you need quality coach at all spots because the depth just won’t be there anymore. Who on our offensive staff is anyone coming to steal? Over the past few years we lost Pittman, Monken, Lanning, Fran B, and Dell. Look who we replaced them with. Who on our current staff does anyone want to be a HC? Schumann and T Rob maybe but damn sure nobody on the offensive side. That tells you that the quality of our staff needs to be upgraded. I’ve got faith that Kirby sees all these issues and will address them. If not, then he only has himself to blame. The game is changing and the ones who adapt are the ones who succeed.
