I was talking to a 2027 recruit’s dad today. He and his son were up at UGA yesterday visiting. To preface, he is not a Georgia fan. He said he didn’t grow up really watching college ball. Below are a few things he told me:
- He said Georgia is just built different. They’ve been to UF, Auburn, and UTjr, and coming to Georgia was night and day. The way the kids practice, the way the coaches coach, and the way Kirby runs things is special. He said Napier and Freeze just came into their practices, said a few things, and then let the assistant coaches and coordinators run things. But at Georgia, man Kirby came in immediately and ran the whole practice. He said Kirby is everywhere and sees everything. Kirby was even getting on the media team because they were just “standing there doing nothing.” Kirby apparently told him that his wife couldn’t come into the team meetings because things can get a little rough. And he said Kirby wasn’t lying. He said if you don’t like cussing, can’t go to Athens. Lol
- During practices, he told me Kirby was dogging on Mike Bobo, saying things, “Come on Mike! That didn’t work last year, do something different!” He also said he was dogging on some older kids that were loafing as well. He said he told one kid, “Naw, these freshmen are working harder than you. Go work with the 3s and we will look at you again in a few weeks.”
Edit: Forgot about this, he said Kirby was also complaining about how soft the team was and how he’s never had a team this soft before. TTFWIW
- Now on a specific player, he said Bo Walker is a dude. He said Bo might be small, but he’s tough and will lay the wood on some folks. The only thing hampering Bo right now is he is out of shape; however, he said he could tell who the freshmen were because they were all pretty out of shape and getting use to the speed of things.
Not much, but I liked how he talked about Georgia compared to even other SEC teams.
