A lot of conjecture on the CFP. Most likely not to change next year. 1 more year on the bowl contracts and they need unanimous conference approval to re-do the seeding process. Why would the Big 12 or ACC vote for that? They won’t.

2026 is likely to move to 14 teams, probably with 4 auto bids for SEC & B1G, 2 for ACC and Big 12, 1 G5 champ and 1 at-large (ND if ranked in the top 14). Conferences will move to play-in games between 4/5 and 2/3, respectively. I think a lot can be solved with moving the season back 1 week.

2024
Nov 23 - Rivalry week
Nov 30 - Play-in games
Dec 1 - Bracket Announced
Dec 7 - Army/Navy
Dec. 13/14 - First round (seeds 3-14) on campus
Dec. 15 - reseed bracket. 1 gets worst team left
Dec. 20/21 - Quarterfinals on campus
Jan. 1 - Semis at rose and sugar
Jan. 13 - National Championship

I would invite the other bowls to have the losers of the 1st round go to them on Dec. 31 and January 1. And they be in the rotation for the natty.
