ABC asking questions to set up Kamala to attack Trump

Barring some significant unforeseen event, Harris is going to win by enough to render any post-election plans for 2020-style disruption ineffective.

This from the person who claimed that Biden was not only mentally sound, but was actively “owning” Republicans. With all due respect, maybe you should dial back the predictions a bit…

You’re looking at this through the lens of a TDSer who was going to praise Kamala no matter what she said or did. Sorry, but she didn’t state anything concrete about her policies. And Trump got her on her fracking flip-flopping, which will play well in Pennsylvania.

This will be a close election, but you will be sorely disappointed on election night if you think Kamala blows Trump out. Like most events in the lead up to the election, the post-debate hype will die out, people will focus more on actual policies, and the momentum will shift back to Trump. Just as it did in the aftermath of Kamala’s “nomination” and the DNC.

Trump is just such an undisciplined person... I mean, if someone like Kamala Harris can so easily play him and trigger him, what do we think other World Leaders will do to him.
What will world leaders do in 2025 if Trump is elected that they didn't do between 16 and 20?

Will they go back to NAFTA, drop tariffs on China and allow them to dump products in the U.S. Will ISIS start sawing heads off of Americans again?
Criticism of Trump's undisciplined ramblings is fair but let's not pretend that Trump wasn't effective in protecting American interest on the world stage.

Trump didn't score any points last night with anyone aside from far right MAGA pet-loving people in Springfield... I mean, on every point just about she bested him... You say she didn't state anything concrete about her policies, but Trump literally said on stage "We have the concept of a plan..."

Thats the response of a man who prepared for this debate by watching wild videos on youtube of rumors of Chupacabra-like immigrants stealing and eating pets in the night.

I dont know who will win this election... I suspect if Trump loses it will be close enough that he can continue his "It was stolen." rants. But Wall Street is already suggesting what they think will happen with their money as futures are down this morning following this debate that increased the odds of a Harris presidency.

I was wrong about Biden and admitted as much. But I was right about how Trump would perform in the first debate; it was just that his poor performance was entirely overshadowed by Biden's catastrophic performance.

Trump performed exactly as I expected last night. Post-birth murder, already debunked lies about pets being eaten, crowd size, magical tariffs (a concept that he seems to think he invented himself), election fraud lies. TDS is thinking that any of that came across as sane or that it appeals to the undecideds who will determine the outcome of the next election.

Y'all have chosen to live in crazy town with Trump and you completely fail to understand that dismissing aberrant behavior as "Trump being Trump" isn't going to work in year eight the same way it worked in year one or even year four.

And I didn't predict a blowout. That's obviously not going to happen. What I did predict is that Harris, just like Biden in 2020, will win by enough in enough states that it will render Trump's latest plans to steal the election ineffective.

You're proving my point - neither candidate changed anything last night. What concrete policies did Kamala state? Repeating the phrase "opportunity economy" over and over again is not a policy, and neither is sounding on the verge of tears with every single answer she gave. She definitely goaded Trump into some rants early on, but he closed strong and the prediction markets reflected that. And Trump missed plenty of opportunities to hammer Kamala on her flip-flopping, but fortunately, he did on fracking.

This will be the third cycle in the Kamala rollercoaster. The first was when she was "nominated", and the second was the DNC. Each time, momentum shifted back to Trump once the hype died down a few days later. Just as momentum shifted away from Trump in the aftermath of the attempted assassination. This will be much of the same. Especially as the attention shifts towards the 3-on-1 debate style, Kamala not being called out for her lies about Trump's IVF stance, Project 2025, "fine people on both sides", and the fact that he was correct about former VA Gov. Northam's support of late term and even, in some cases, after-birth abortions.

It is very much possible that Kamala wins this election. That's always been true. But this debate will not be a major deciding factor in that event.

You live in far-left crazy town pal. That's what the modern-day Democrat party is. A freak show.

She wasn't 100% accurate... but she also wasn't going off on wild tangents talking about feral immigrants eating puppies and questioning her opponent's race. Trump has a discipline issue. He always has... its a bad flaw.

He just goes all-in and and grabs these wild internet fantasy rumors and runs with them and the moderators are 100% prepared.

Harris had a very shaky, nervous start which probably got Trump a little overconfident... but then the abortion issue came up which has been a huge scoring topic for democrats and could in fact cost the Republicans the White House this term, and Harris was ready for it. It was clear she had prepared and prepared well for that moment and that topic and she pounced on it and on Trump. When she said "couples are praying..." Trump was suddenly staring ahead wide-eyed, caught off guard, and clearly agitated from that point forward...

.... and from that point forward Harris regained her confidence, stuck to her game plan of baiting Trump and cleaned his clock the rest of the night.

Trump is just such an undisciplined person... I mean, if someone like Kamala Harris can so easily play him and trigger him, what do we think other World Leaders will do to him.

The fact is that Trump actually does have some good economic ideas... there's a reason why the public still trusts him more on the economy and in his last term he showed you can in fact play hardball with China and not wreck the economy... If he could just stay disciplined and stay on point instead of grasping at these wild fantastical fantasies that the furthest right of his supporters come up with and actually just debate his ideas he would have gotten re-elected last time... and he could get elected this time.

But he just can't do it and thats why he'll never be an effective leader.

I can't disagree with that.

She won by not losing... Democrats got a boost when she entered the race but I think most middle Americans wanted to see how she would stand up to Trump. She might not have gained a significant portion of new voters though she probably gained some even if only a little... but most importantly she didn't go out and fall flat on her face and lose voters the way Biden did. That was the best anyone has debated Trump one on one so far.

This performance by her wasn't a certainty... She probably didnt win the election solely on last night but she could have lost it... and I thought after that first question she was well on her way to losing it as her response was so shaky and nervous I thought Trump was about to take her lunch money and then go make her stand in line with Rubio, Christie, Clinton, Biden, and everyone else he's embarrassed on the stage... But that didnt happen last night and thats a victory for Harris.

Again, you're looking at this through the lens of someone who despises Trump, and attempting to transpose that view onto your hypothetical undecided voter in one of the seven swing states that will decide this election.

Take Trump out of the equation for a second. What policies did Kamala show us last night? Saying the words "opportunity economy" over and over again is not policy. Sounding on the verge of tears with every single answer is not policy. Lying about Trump's connection to Project 2025, the "many fine people on both sides" lie, and IVF - among other things - are not policies.

And yes, Trump was correct about former Gov. Northam's support for post-birth and late-term abortions. The same thing the ABC moderators accused him of lying about. The video is circulating this morning. Trump also got Kamala on her flip-flopping, especially on fracking. How will that play in Pennsylvania?

As far as your prediction, I think we're just parsing words here. You're saying that Kamala's margin of victory would be more than Biden's in the swing states, to the extent that Trump couldn't contest the results, correct? 2020 came down to 157k votes in AZ, GA, WI, NV, and PA, and Trump would only need to win 3 of those. Do you really think the margins will be significantly more than that? The polls sure don't seem to think so, since Kamala is performing worse against Trump than Hillary and Biden each did.

It's the best anyone has debated Trump so far this cycle, but that's not saying much considering what an abomination the last debate was. I thought both Biden and Hillary were better in previous cycles.

I actually think the opposite, regarding her performance. I thought her opening statement, though scripted, was solid. And she goaded Trump early and it worked. Then, Trump found himself and started hammering her on the policies, which is when she started to get flustered and regurgitate the same lines over and over again.

I also don't think Kamala could've imploded last night. There's too much support for her as a younger (relatively speaking) Democrat who isn't named Joe Biden. And even if she could've been sunk, Trump isn't the person to sink her. He's too polarizing. But he got in the big points about her flip-flopping on important policy, like fracking and the police.

If you are an undecided voter, which obviously neither of us are, who moved the needle last night? The economy is what it is but there are still undecideds out there. Did Trump score points on the economy last night? Did he convince anyone that his plan is superior to the Harris plan? I don’t think so.

As we’ve discussed, this entire election comes down to less that 400k or so voters in five states. I think Harris ultimately conveyed to those people that she is up for the job and Trump completely failed to do the same. That’s the only aspect of last night’s debate that matters.

And as I’ve been saying, we are only going to get more of what we saw from Trump last night. There is no pivot, there is no focusing on policy, he’s got one act and he couldn’t change it if he wanted to, and he doesn’t want to. Barring some significant unforeseen event, Harris is going to win by enough to render any post-election plans for 2020-style disruption ineffective.
I think she did nothing to say she can fix the economy, border or foreign policy. Trump fumbled most of his opportunities to win the debate. I do not think either did very much to move the needle either way. She still has no policy and has not laid out any plans to address the issues. She is just moving forward. The problem is no one knows where that is going to take the country and I do not really think she knows either. She will not state a policy or stance and back it up with a plan. Trump should have talked about her stances and how she has no real plan to address the economy, the border etc.
He missed the mark for sure and she did not implode.. Neither did well, one did better than the previous candidate so thst is a win I guess.
The independent voters that care to be informed about the policies and the direction of our country did not gain much from this debate.

What will world leaders do in 2025 if Trump is elected that they didn't do between 16 and 20?

Criticism of Trump's undisciplined ramblings is fair but let's not pretend that Trump wasn't effective in protecting American interest on the world stage.

I've actually pointed out many times that Trump was very effective at many things... even today mentioned he was absolutely dealing with China correctly and winning and our economy held up just fine despite all what all the doom and gloomers were saying. But he is also extremely erratic, makes terrible mistakes at times, embraces dictators, chases fantasies, and can't control himself... and for me, the bad just to far outweighs the good.

I mean, he should have won re-election easily. But he botched that worse than Hillary botched the election against him. All he had to do was take a pandemic seriously and unequivocally disavow white supremist groups when given the chance to do so in front of the entire world on the debate stage vs Biden and he simply couldn't do it. He's our president today if he could have simply done those two things... or any number of other simple tasks and it was just beyond his mental ability to do so, and worse, apparently beyond his comprehension as to WHY he needed to do so. To me, that's the mark of a poor leader.

Agree that trump didnt win over undecideds. I think there are very few of those to begin with and Harris went into the night very much behind in the electorate. If she isn’t up by 6 points in general election polls on Election Day she loses. The trump turnout dynamic will be even more pronounced this year because people are pissed at the current economic condition of the country. Last election folks had covid / trump fatigue. This time they have economic fatigue, and the debate will not change who folks trust on the economy. A majority of swing state voters are worse off than they were 4 years ago. And that is an almost impossible hill to climb. Which is why Trump will have only himself to blame if he does lose. I don’t think he will.

I’ll turn your same logic on undecideds around on you. Admitting that Kamala performed well…..by definition anyone who is undecided has already decided that trump’s behavior and rhetoric you admit is typical doesn’t disqualify him from the White House. He didn’t gain new voters. But he likely didn’t lose many either on the basis of saying dumb shit. It was already priced in….even to the undecideds.

His problem with the pandemic is he was too out front and instead of being a politician, he made it way too easy for the consequences to be pinned on himself when NOBODY was going to mitigate the spread of the virus in the early stages.

He was criticized for a shortage of hospital beds in NY. He moved 2 hospital ships that never reached full capacity. He was told we needed respirators and produced a surplus. He was told by the experts he needed to shut down the economy and he did. Regardless of what you think about the vaccine, he pushed it through in record time. At the same time he was being called a racist, a xenophobe and was literally being impeached.

I'm not sure how many times he was expected to explicitly condemn and disavow racist.

We will have to agree to disagree on which view reflects reality and is more commonly held.

You keep bringing up policy detail. What detail did Trump share? He was asked about the mechanics of his mass deportations and he didn’t even try to answer the question. Tariffs have somehow become free money with no downside in Trump’s mind. Nine years later and all he can offer regarding healthcare is “concepts of a plan” that he will be “sharing very soon”. Sound familiar? It should, he’s been using that line for years now.

Yet Harris didn’t drill down into enough detail? That’s a classic Trump double standard.

I’m not saying that Kamala’s margin of victory needs to be more than Biden’s was. I think it will be similar if not a little better, and while the GOP has taken steps to better execute a 2020-style plan to steal the election, the Dems have taken steps to counter those steps. Trump needs to lose by a small number of votes in no more than two swing states to have a chance to successfully run his plan. If it’s three or more swing states his plan is DOA.

I don’t disagree with everything you say… I clearly don’t like the man but I’m not one who has to like someone to vote for them. But he has just shown to be to erratic, to unhinged at times, and to self serving for me… and I say that knowing those are traits of many politicians… but he takes it to levels I’ve never seen before.

On the disavowal of racists, I know he did at other times, but I’m specifically referring to incident in the debate with Biden when in front of the world he couldn’t unequivocally do it and in a rage told the proud boys to stand down and stand by…. That was a huge hit for him and terrible mistake in that debate in front of millions.

You avoided my question. What policy details did Kamala share?

And what "election stealing" steps did the GOP take? What counter-measures have the Dems taken? The only measures we've seen from the Dems are to push mail-in ballots (I wonder why?) and essentially claim that Black and Hispanic voters are too stupid to obtain voter IDs.

At this point it's a binary choice. Trump may have uttered stand down and stand by to a group that was largely counter protesters but that is a far cry from rioters taking over sections of cities, fire bombing federal buildings with fed agents inside and burning cities and the current candidate clearly stating the "protests" won't stop after the election, should not stop after the election and tweeting out addresses for fund raising to bail out violent rioters. I'd much rather vote for an asshat that was as effective as any POTUS since Reagan than a looney lefty that promises to shut down fracking, snatch patents "we can do that" abolish private health insurance co sponsors the green new deal and 4 yrs later says, never mind.

Why aren't they fact checking Kamy? Even Snopes has debunked the "Good people on both sides", and the "Bloodbath" quotes that Kamy brought up. But Davy doesn't have the stones to step out of line and call her on that? None of you dims have any stones. You have surrendered them to the WEF and the CCP.

Harris stated support for the bipartisan border bill that Trump helped kill. That’s far more detail than anything Trump has offered, including the mass deportations he refused to detail in any way last night.

Harris stated strong support for NATO and Ukraine, which is a clear contrast with Trump.

She addressed reproductive rights in detail.

She discussed police reform, which is not defunding the police but but rather about investing in community-based alternatives and reexamining how law enforcement resources are used.

She discussed specific tax deductions for new businesses.

She discussed housing, although she is definitely vague there.

Ok, what detail did we get from Trump?

Regarding efforts to improve on the 2020 election fraud playbook, all you need to do is look at what’s happening in GA. This lawsuit was tossed yesterday, and similar things are happening in multiple swing states.

Trump has zero discipline and keeps taking obvious bait. He can't get out of his own way. Immigration is an issue he absolutely crushes her on with both sides of the vote, and he got baited into talking about rallies and then only circled back to immigration to accuse illegals of eating dogs. He's a damn moron.

The morons in our party created this disaster. Nikki Haley would wipe the floor with Kamala.
All Harris had to do was sound rational and not be Donald J Trump or Joe Biden . He's the best campaigner she has. I think the swing vote just sees her as the lesser of the two evils, nobody has a clue what she might actually do.
Immigrants eating pets, jeezus... Yes there's a problem but this is the sound bite that the country will remember and to be fair there was a bi-partisan bill to work on the problem but Trump had his guys kill it so he could make it a campaign issue. So you can lay at least some of the blame for the violent death and consumption of yorkies and tabbies on Don himself.
I've voted Republican my entire life but he's got to go along with his grip on the party leadership. There has to be a house cleaning. I'll swap the president to Harris for a Rep majority in at least one house and actual viable candidates in the mid terms in two years. Would somebody do something about Marjorie Taylor Green while we're at it?

I'll swap the president to Harris for a Rep majority in at least one house and actual viable candidates in the mid terms in two years. Would somebody do something about Marjorie Taylor Green while we're at it?
Agree, we need to cleanse the party of Trump, but last night just motivated me even more to vote for Congressional and down ballot Republicans. Keep her term in check with a GOP majority and set up 2026 midterms and 2028 general election.

Maybe becauseeee … the other isn’t lying 💁🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️

I wasn’t able to watch, I’m assuming they didn’t ask Kamala about lying regarding Bidens mental status?
They did stop short of asking her what her favorite ice cream is so there is that,

Speaking of lies by Trump, I am surprised no one is calling him out for his statements that tariffs are a tax on other countries and not the American consumer. Does anyone in Trumpworld really believe him when he says China is the one paying the tariffs? If you buy a $100 widget from China and it has a 20% tariff, it means YOU are paying the extra $20 through higher import fees, not China. Sure, it helps raise artificial demand for US products, but no way in hell is it a foreign tax and it will sure as hell raise inflation.

If you sheep stop buying China the price of USA goods will come down.

Fidelity - Futures slip after Harris-Trump debate
More independents are saying they will vote for Trump because of his policies on crime in America. Kamala has no policies on crime because she and Joe are the cause of the lawlessness in this country.

A tariff is a tax on the company who imports the goods and is passed to the consumer. Trumps comments on tariffs show he is economically illiterate and make his many bankruptcies seem more and more inevitable.

And have Communists running the country. You people sure have a sick imagination on how to get rid of Trump. Any way this country will never survive 4 years of this communist regime.

Sure it will. This dire warning is made every election and USA continues to thrive no matter who is leading it. The left thinks the country will end if Trump is elected, too - and, of course, it would not.

We did this to ourselves ignoring anyone but Trump in the primary. I've said for the last four years he's unelectable this time around. Now, I think he would have beat a dying invalid in Biden. I don't think he has a chance against Harris at this point barring some truly crazy October surprise.
