The 14th amendment on citizenship rights was written to ensure slaves born in the USA would be citizens. It was never intended to apply to illegal aliens. However, it was interpreted to apply to aliens in a footnote to a 1982 SCOTUS ruling. This can be reversed by legislation which of course would be appealed back to the Supremes or with a lawsuit by a party that has legal standing. Either way it is not fair to taxpayers to be burdened by illegals taking advantage of this situation.
