We are told that UGA offensive lineman Warren Ericson hurt his ankle earlier in the week. It is doubtful that he will be available for the rest of the spring.
As for Mims, Dayne told me a few days ago that Mims had informed UGA that he was intending to put his name in the portal. From that point forward, UGA had three days to do so. Now, this sometimes happens and the kid changes his mind, so we don't always report it. But as you can see, Dash had a story prepped as that seemed the likely outcome. One of our sources here told us yesterday (after we broke the news that Mims was not at the last two practices) that Mims had taken all his stuff and left. We were told he wasn't returning calls. Once it got out that he wasn't at practice, we picked up a lot more tips and confirmation. (Thandk to the great insiders here.) But as can be the case, we waited to see if Mims would change his mind. So far he hasn't and UGA had to process the request. He would still be welcomed back, but UGA is not going to make any promises about playing time, etc.
I am told Webb was at practice on Saturday but we were told he was likely "gone" too. This one is not a surprise.
Worth noting, Mims and Darnell Washington are roommates. Maybe this move makes it more likely that Washington transfers too. Or maybe it has the opposite effect. Who can say?
