Saw where ND HC Freeman said his team had bought into the playoff hype when trying to explain the loss to NIU. It reminded me (again) of how lucky we are to have Kirby Smart.
I recall under previous regimes and even early in Kirby's tenure some DVers wishing UGA would be underestimated because "we play better as the underdog." That never made any sense (you can't be a championship program and be the underdog), and luckily Kirby has made the issue moot.
UGA is the favorite, regardless of the competition. And even though EVERYONE predicts the Dawgs will be in the CFP, we never have to worry that the team will be distracted by the "hype."
Kirby has built a culture where being the best isn't a burden, but instead a privilege that is earned.
