We won the toss and elected to receive; were most teams still electing to receive when they won the toss as of 1997? Back then, about 95% of the teams winning the coin toss elected to receive. Now, about 95% of the teams elect to kick off, when they win the toss. Anybody remember when this change occurred (I understand the thinking about the decision to kick off to start the game, and to receive the second half kickoff…. not asking about that). Does anybody remember when this change occurred?
