Are Dems mad because waste and fraud is being exposed or just mad because Musk is leading the charge?

Would it make them any happier if some Washington bureaucrat was appointed to lead DOGE? Or, are they more afraid of what all will be exposed?
Distraction. They are complicit in the abuse. So they have no choice but to attack the process. They are performing in conjunction with MSM in an attempt to sway public opinion.

All for exposing waste.

What fraud has been exposed? Bear in mind, government funding for a department or program you disagree with does not make the spending fraudulent.

Patience? Fraud will be revealed as well

The scale was breathtaking:

EPA climate initiatives? Not just mapped—found unauthorized programs in 47 states. Education's DEI maze? Not just exposed—revealed coordination across 1,200 programs. Intelligence community black budgets? Not just traced—uncovered patterns hidden for 30 years.

I think the biggest reason they are mad is because all politicians (both pubs and dems) say they are going to reduce government waste, but none actually do anything about it . . . until now. Democrats want to increase the size of the government and increase government involvement in our lives. Government employees aren't used to being held accountable and have always assumed they were a protected class. The kickback from the left and the bureaucrat class will only intensify, but rest assured that Trump and Musk are doing the Lord's work here.

Yes they are mad at being exposed, mad a Elon, mad at Trump, but mostly just mad about losing money and power!

Great responses by all and have hit on the areas:

  • They don't like Musk as he supported Trump
  • Some of their gravy train has been exposes ($ 30 million to Politico, good gracious, that is beyond absurd)
  • Distraction and push back on everything immediately to try to slow the process (clearly there are other pockets of absurd spending funneled back to demo causes)
  • The entire prospect of cutting spending, even if wasteful is not their agenda
  • Trump and his team have hit on a popular idea, cutting wasteful spending, so they have to react in a way to try to dumb down the popularity or spin it in a negative light (READ ONLY ACCESS was portrayed that he Musk and his team had keys to the kingdom)

Looks like several of those items listed by DOGE were funded but never existed/operated. I am not sure where that falls in the legal definition of fraud which is as follows:
Fraud takes place when a person deliberately practices deception in order to gain something unlawfully or unfairly. In most states, the act of fraud can be classified as either a civil or a criminal wrong. While fraud is most commonly committed to obtain benefits of value, it sometimes occurs solely for the purpose of deceiving another person or entity. For instance, if a person makes false statements, it may be considered fraud, depending on the circumstances

Thanks for the definition…. I never said what has been is revealed to this point is fraud, but no rational person doesn’t expect it to exist when Billions upon billions are disbursed daily with zero oversight for decades. Corporations have audits. DOGE is the first and just wait until they dig into defense, education and HHS.

The amounts and reasons for the amounts involved beg the question about kickbacks. That would be fraud.

And in the case of the biased reporting we've seen from NYT, Reuters, BBC, Politico, etc......the kickback in question could certainly be just that - biased reporting. With 97% of the agency in charge of allocating the funds supportive of democrats, that is a super legit question. I don't know if that would meet the technical definition of fraud......but it sure seems criminal to use taxpayer dollars to bend supposedly unbiased media towards one political party.

I would like to see the amounts paid by this agency to these areas over the years. Did they spike in certain years under certain administrations? Or has it been fairly flat? If the latter, it may allay some concerns about fraud or using taxpayer dough for political purposes.....but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be cut.

Biggest waste of tax payer money is interest on the deficit, 1 trillion per year and how can that be controlled?
I’d start by negotiating with those we owe by offering trade deals in exchange for debt forgiveness.
1) it will never be under control if you don’t stop the wasteful spending 2) Deficit spending is inflationary - so this will bring down the cost for the US debt 3) Sound Fiscal policy would allow us to drop rates & US GVT can borrower cheaper rates 4) Remove GVT anti business regulation & grow the hell out of the economy 5) Bring back mfg to US -

We have the largest economy in the world with an Anti - Business GVT - Unleash it!

Surely it isn’t true, but if tax payer money was spent on 600million in pentagon sushi, then I’d say fraud is in the air.

But honestly how is it when tax payer money is “sent” abroad but the other country says they only get half, not fraud?

This entire administration is waste and fraud. Too bad so many are too stupid to understand the reality. Enjoy the destruction of America. Not even close to the country I grew up in for the past 74 years. Yes America was great, are are witnessing it being destroyed and turned in to me country rather than a we country.

No security for 29 year old's getting access to highly secure and private data.

And on a related subject:
Trump saying the U S will "take over Gaza and own it" and move out the Palestinians there to build “the Riviera of the Middle East,” was the most unrealistic, bizarre and dumb statement ever made by a U S President.
Trump is a man who says he doesn’t want new military commitments, and now he wants to move two million people who don’t want to go to places that don’t want them.
Is this because right-wing officials in Israel, evangelical Christians in the U S and Trump appointees support Israel taking more territory?

It's been reported every single person has security clearance. Can you say the same for employees at Equifax?

As far as Gaza goes, I firmly believe it's a tactic to get surrounding countries to act. I believe it'll work too.

Saw a chart on Politico Pro subscribers. Yes it was HUGE spike over the past 4 years.

Sincere question. How old are you? Clearly not old enough to remember the Reagan Star Wars play. Bankrupted the USSR. Same play here.

Ok. I have to make sure I am clear on this. You actually thought the USA was great under the past administration?

Brainwashed.

How can you think my taxes paying for this shit is ok?
It’s a slush fund for politicians and you are good with it?

Even the few Dems I know think this spending is BS and they have no retort for the findings.

I’m not aware of that happening. When did DOGE reveal that discovery? I missed it.

Including Lauren Boebert, who paid them $7,150 for a yearlong subscription beginning in January 2024.
You mean an individual used their own money to buy a subscription? Is your argument that this is the same as the federal government using your money to buy subscriptions to a known left leaning media outlet in the tens of millions of dollars?

The President and White House press secretary are using the words “kickbacks” now and the Democrats aren’t arguing it.

Just “end of democracy” “Musk wasn’t elected” blah blah blah

Should be saying “oh shit we are about to be caught”
The President uses hyperbole and insults all the time. His Press Secretary is a shill.

When DOGE unroots actual evidence of fraud, we will know it. I suspect it will happen and that’s good. But calling spending authorized by Congress “fraud” just because we don’t like it or find it wasteful is wrong.

Data from USAspending.gov shows of the $8 million spent on payments for Politico products in 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Interior and Department of Energy each paid over $1 million in 2024. USAID paid $24,000 for Politico subscriptions in the 2024 fiscal year, up from $20,000 the previous year.

Fair enough. But the first sign of fraud is typically unusually large amounts of money being spent on something that doesn’t make much sense. It is exactly what auditors are trained to look for. Especially when you are talking about government money. Happens all the time at the municipal level with inflated contracts and kickbacks to subs.

The stuff being uncovered now looks even more suspicious….especially considering the enabling culture of that kind of shit in these agencies, and totally inadequate oversight…….until now. Everyone should be applauding this effort. The outrage is even more telling about that culture.
