Are the linebackers in witness protection?

Jenkins has been hurt, but Carter and Floyd have been invisible. 81st in the nation for sacks isn't what you expect with that type of talent at the LB position.

The only thing I can make of it is Pruitt doesn't trust the CBs/safeties to stop the long ball, or he's trying to deny the short/intermediate passing game. I guess either way it reflects a lack of trust in DBs.
I think this is exactly it. He doesn't trust that secondary yet so he doesn't want to bring the heat and have them in man coverage only. KY isn't a good team but I did think they did a pretty good job yesterday in keeping KY's offense in check and Towles out of rhythm. It is showing a qb rating of 57.4 for him against us vs a season avg of 116.4 (FWIW).

Neither Floyd or Carter are good at finishing plays. They take bad angles and they are easily knocked off course with chips or a slight push in the side. Neither player has the lower body strength to take a hit and stay on a line to the QB.
Also I know our OLB coach has had a terrible personal blow which might explain the lack of improvement in that area.
Floyd was disruptive against Kentucky though, he just can't quite make the kill.

Both of them will turn out to be all world when they reach the NFL. We just don't have a way to bring the best out of our players.

It's coaching...stupid!

Just doesn't make much sense...

If You think about it Saban's defenses don't produce big sack numbers. The word ''contain'' makes it seem passive, but being in the right place and making form tackles still wins ball games. Of course Bama's defense collapses the pocket on a regular basis, that makes it hard to run an offense.
That is why I want to stay the course on defense. We're building a hellacious D-line. By 2017 I think we'll be as good as anybody with the defensive front 7, maybe the best.

Always thought Carter was overrated. He is 0-3 against Treon Harris. He got whooped on Nat'l TV (ESPN - Norcross vs Booker T. Washington) his SR year in HS. Treon shredded them for 287 yds, 5 TDs, and 0 INTs. The score was 47-0 in the 3rd quarter. Carter was absent in that game too. He got man-handled by a Jr OT that wasnt on anybody's recruiting board. Never really saw 5stars with this guy.

Carter is a great athlete with a superb frame. He needs to put on 30lbs and learn how to use leverage.

He also needs to mature, stop dreaming about being a rich NFL player and start concentrating on doing the things it takes to make those dreams a reality.

You've just summed up just about every player on the active roster...

Yep, I saw Carter single-handed beat Colquitt County in the semi-finals. He was all over the place.

Great Athlete with Superb frame doesnt make you a 5*. What you are and what you could be are not the same thing. Potential does not = reality. Reality is he's not a 5*. He's still developing. The reality is he's not great at rushing the passer or great at stopping the run. He's not strong at the point of attack either. He's a good football player with upside but to this point you are what you put on film. And thats not much right now.

I think he was a valid 5 star player coming out of hs. I didn't think Ray Drew was, though their situations seem similar at this point Ray wasn't very productive in hs, Carter was.
I'm not sure why LC isn't putting on the weight our coaches want but he definitely seems immature in his attitude.

If he had gone to a school like Bama, he'd be riding the pine until his junior year. That's the problem - UGA attracts the "me first" guys who expect and demand to play as freshmen. In reality, there are very few players that can make that transition with a high degree of success, given the few short weeks they have on campus before the season starts.

I do think selling the program as the best route to early playing time is flawed. It's best to learn good habits before gaining playing time. Putting players in games too soon only reinforces bad habits that are harder to undo than it would be to get it right the first time.

I hope we set the bar higher to see the field once this young group is trained up.
