Had lunch today with a former associate who has an executive position in one of the Forest Service Regional Offices. He told me that barry is signing Executive Orders( multiple) placing National Forest Land Base in National Monuments eventually to be overseen by the National Park Service. barry did the Executive Orders because there was not enough congressional support ( from Republicans and Democrats as well) to implement the legislation for this ( the legal way to do it). The reason this is being done is to lock the land up from grazing and minerals. It appears the Administration is really trying to get as many as they can done before the end of 2016 and lock up as many parcels of public land from multiple use as possible.
I did not think it possible to ever have an administration worse than Clinton-Gore for disastrous land management policy, but I guess I was wrong. If you ever wonder about Clinton-Gore just go West and look at all the dead timber on the mountains and all the big wildfire damage. We warned them in 93 about the potential disastrous consequences of their 1994 Northwest Forest Plan including major outbreaks of insects and disease as well as major fires and were basically told they did not GAS what happened.
