Big night for the Florida school boards (especially Miami and Jacksonville)

If you told me 5 years ago to move from GA to FL, I've shot you. But now I have doubts the Kempians will protect me, and I may move in the next two years. My fear? DeSantis gets elected POTUS and FL has no remaining leadership.

Every state now is a mocrocosm of South America. California is Venezuela, NY is Argentina, and so on. Prove me wrong. If I win the lottery, I will live on my private jet, never staying more than a week in any country. You people suck. (Whoops, said that before I won the lottery, but, you understand, right?)

Several Florida county school boards flipped to conservative majorities tonight. That includes Miami-Dade (Miami) and Duval (Jacksonville).

People have been red pulled and now see the truth and are paying attention to local elections as well. They finally realized the Dems where dominating those local races that Most people ignore.
there may be hope for our country yet.

Francis Suarez is the mayor of Miami and he will take over when DeSantis leaves. And that’s a good thing for FL.
By that, I mean he will be elected after Ron and do a brilliant job.

A rather large red wave is on the horizon. It will encompass everything from county elections to state & federal elections. There will be a backlash to all the ridiculous & unhinged policies that the libs have promoted in our country over the last few years. To all the libs on this board , go ahead & try to say something witty or disingenuous. As Rhett Butler said in Gone With The Wind, “ Frankly my dear , I don’t give a damn“ !

Look for the teacher shortage in Florida to increase to an even more horrendous number (9,000) than it is now.

Florida is continuing its path down the toilet bowl. Enjoy living like European countries did under hitler. Florida has its own wannabe.

Many people all over the country are starting to bring the fight to these left wing socialist activists... Parents, not school boards or teacher's unions should direct the lives and influences for their children... Children being brainwashed... they are TOO young to even understand and need their parents involved in these aspects of their lives...

Why? Because they can’t teach horrible fake race theory, encourage children to be LGBTQ, read them alternative sex porn, and hide their screwing with the children’s minds from their parents? Man, Florida is going to miss those wonderful educators.
Well, we cant have anyone learning that the white majority in this country treated a number of minorities, particularly blacks, like animals or worse for a couple hundred years. Apparently American exceptionalism can’t withstand an honest assessment of our past.

And you believe CRT is an honest assessment of out past?

And another thing; blacks and American Indians and other minorities have had incredible freebies heaped on them and have been given preferential treatment in all sorts of pursuits. It’s not white taxpayers fault so many of them live in rut and hold education in disdain. And the Native Americans, good frigging grief. How long will you be a black apologist before noticing they do damned little to make life better for their children?

And the REPUBLICAN freed the slaves!!
That was awesome 158 or so years ago and should definitely be included in a review of our history.

Can you actually define CRT and share and example or two of how it was previously being used in the FL public school system?

Current social policy is an interesting topic but it’s not what I was referencing in my post. I’m talking about an accurate teaching of the horrors of slavery and the institutional mistreatment and disenfranchisement of blacks for over a hundred years after they were freed.

I have always had a personal interest in history and was a history major at UGA and I’d never heard of the Tulsa massacre until a few years ago. Hell, I just learned about the Wilmington Massacre of 1898 last year!

That’s not CRT, that’s just learning about and trying to understand important events in our history. And understanding how we really got to where we are today can and should inform the path we chart for the future.

Why would I bother doing research for you when all I have to do is trust the parents in Florida who have been fighting it tooth and nail for a couple years. Do your own research.

By that logic, we never should have integrated the school system, given there were plenty of parents fighting that tooth and nail as well.

After a few minutes looking into the Wilmimgton Massacre, knowledge of which you were deprived by obviously white supremacist faculty at UGA, I notice the Secret Nine and the RedShirts who planned and perpetrated the slaughter were…………. democrats. The Freedmen were solidly republican.

And that was not logic, it was merely a personal viewpoint that I trust the Florida parents more than your absolute bias.
If you believe Moms for Liberty are simply a group of concerned parents, you don’t understand anything about the group or their beliefs.

Leaders have well known ties to the Proud Boys and other similar groups. In fact, recently convicted seditionist and Proud Boy leader Tarrio called them “the Gestapo with vaginas”, which is a noteworthy endorsement both for who is comes from and the reference he made to describe them.

I don't think that's an indictment on US history classes. Hell, I went to as conservative of a school as there is anywhere in the country, and I learned about the Tulsa Massacre in like 6th or 7th grade.

I was lucky enough to attend some very good schools and somehow we missed that.

While my US history teacher in 7th grade was exceptional, and despite the fact we were in MA, she was an unrepentant Lost Cause-er from the Deep South and as such did not tend to focus on those types of unfortunate events. She did spark my lifelong interest in the Civil War, for which I’ll always be grateful.

Wasn't there supposed to be a massive Red Wave in 2022 as well 💁‍♂️

By any historical measure, the republicans massively underperformed in 2022. Ongoing, full-throated support for seditionists and aggressively pushing for abortion laws that 70% of the country disagree with will have that effect and neither of those factors are likely to change in the next election.

They've failed to see how monumental the repeal of Roe has been and are continually pushing laws to limit woman's reproductive rights. Like below, Alabama AG says he has the legal authority to prosecute those seeking to aid women to get an abortion out of state. These people are insane, this along with nominating Trump will ensure Biden is reelected.

"Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R) argued in a court filing Wednesday that he can file criminal charges against people who assist those getting abortion care outside the state.

Marshall argued that people who organize travel for those leaving Alabama to receive an abortion, for example, may be participating in a “criminal conspiracy,” because abortion is illegal in the state. Alabama has one of the country’s most strict anti-abortion laws."
