It has come to Buck’s attention that many people have the day off of work for Independence Day, as he refers to July 4th. Buck went on with some pretty solid hints, insights and suggestions for throwing a great party.

According to Buck, it’s absolutely crucial that the host wear red, white and blue. Buck prefers to wear his home game jersey along with a blue scarf and a white boat captains’ hat. The captains’ hat needs to be slightly cocked to the side giving it something of a rakish appearance exhibiting a ‘hey dudes, let’s party” flair. The jaunty blue scarf provides a patriotic splash without seeming unapproachable.

When serving a crowd Buck thinks it’s best to grill out. Buck suggests placing yourself at the grill so people can hang out near you and ask you about your past exploits. The captains’ hat shows you’re in charge and the focus will be on you, not distracted elsewhere.

When grilling out Buck reveals that not everyone likes hamburgers so his move is to cook a few hot dogs as well. Buck’s Nugget: make sure that you purchase an even amount of hamburger buns to the number of hamburgers you want to cook. If you don’t Buck infers that you can run out of buns or have to make smaller burgers at the end.

Buck’s secret is to flip the burgers so that you have grill marks on each side. It adds a touch of class. Another Buck trick is to put cheese right on the burgers while on the grill at the end to allow it to melt nicely. Buck did warn that if you put the cheese on at the start, once you flip the burger, it can cause a mess.

Buck revealed that not everyone likes the same thing on their burgers, so Buck’s developed a system to put the condiments on a side table and let people dress the burgers themselves. Buck notes that this allows him time to recoup without answering football questions.

Buck intimated that it’s best to use paper plates so that Buck has fewer dishes to wash, thereby saving time. Bonus Nugget: Buck likes to use Chinet which Buck feels are more substantial than regular paper plates but still can be thrown away.

Buck then went off on a tangent about the summer appetizer sampler platters at Dantanna's that have something for everyone.
