The PGA Tour had two events this past weekend with the Signature event Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte and the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, and our boys fared very well indeed. Sepp Straka (second from right in photo from 2015 Augusta Invitational) finished T8 (his fifth Top 16 or better in his last six events, including T16s at both The Players and The Masters). Russell Henley moved up 19 places on Sunday with a sweet 67 and a backdoor T10 (his fourth T12 or better in his past six events!) Harris English, Chris Kirk, Brian Harman, and Brendan Todd also played in the limited field no-cut event and though none finished in the Top 25, that test will prepare them for the challenge awaiting them this week at The PGA Championship at Valhalla (Louisville, KY).

But the biggest drama for the DawgsOnTour happened down on the South Carolina Coast when two-time All American and second year PGA Tour Pro Davis Thompson nearly chased down third round leader (and eventual winner) Chris Gotterup on the back nine Sunday. Davis cut a one-time six stroke deficit to within two strokes at the turn, but he didn't hole enough putts on the final stretch (while Gotterup made everything!). Still, that's a T2 for Thompson (his second T2 on Tour and his fourth Top 25 in his past six starts). Also with a strong showing at Myrtle Beach was Grayson Sigg (second from left in photo), whose T13 was his third T13 or better in his last four starts as he continues to establish himself on The PGA Tour (currently well inside the Top 125 at #96). This week all six DawgsOnTour who played at Wells Fargo will be at The PGA Championship. Joining them will be Keith Mitchell whose consistent play (three T28s or better in his last four starts) has him just outside the Signature events, but at #68 on Tour and #79 in The World, truly a world class player.

Now on to our current guys, The GolfDawgs begin today in the NCAA Regionals in Austin, TX. The Dawgs have had a solid Spring with two wins and five Top 5s in six events. With four upper classmen and Freshman Camden Smith the Dawgs have both the experience and the talent to make a run at both the Regionals this week, and the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, CA next week.
