Well the intelligence community was telling our politicians about it in briefings in december, so we made the same mistakes then...
Nothing good can come of this post. Especially since we have idiots beating up random Chinese people all over the globe.
Oh no doubt many heads of state made mistakes and are paying for it....but in those countries...the virus didn't originate and then be covered up intentionally for almost a month.
Assign some blame to leadership worldwide but don't shift the lion's share from the guilty party.
Idiots gonna idiot but the danger is real and is playing out.
Had they kept their exotic meat markets banned in 2004 we wouldn’t be in this position either.
Hopefully this will cause them to be closed for good.

But I agree! Bat soup isn't the best idea... Especially after bats spread Ebola and you know the movie Contagion... These crazy animal markets, you got wild animals in cages, stressed and shvtting and puking and sweating on each other.... it is crazy, they should of been banned..
Also the chinese are still the demand for the murder of tigers and rhinos.. Viagra is generic now, so you'd think...

It sounds like your feelings are hurt the Chinese government tried to cover it up and made the spread worse, like you’d rather blames us.
Many would like to blame us rather than the CPPC that did all they could to cover it up for multiple months, and were responsible for spawning it in the first place with their filthy wetmarkets. Remember many press outlets saying the travel bans against China were too hasty and xenophobic? Same press outlets also reported travel bans to Europe were unnecessary .

Honestly, because 2 or 3 unfortunate people of asian heritage throughout the world have been beaten up by racists, it should absolve the CPPCC of blame.
Should probably relocate our Nike and Apple sweatshops to Vietnam and India. Hopefully the world takes a big economic dump on China for this.

I would be fine if we just invested and focused on a North & South American alliance. For energy, manufcaturing, etc. Eff China, Eff Saudi, and Eff Russia.

From the first doctors coming forward in late Dec (who were arrested by the Chicoms), to China initially denying access of CDC in early January, to the establishment of the original Covo task force in early Jan, to WHO publishing disinformation like the below tweet in mid Jan.
China was trying to hide this from Dec-Jan & parts of Feb until they could no longer hide it. By then it had spread far & wide.

The IC shares lots of info on many topics on a daily basis. You (I assume) have no idea how much happens around the world that the average US citizen never hears about. There were zero US cases at that time (the first was in late-January), nobody had a virus sample, and China's decision to attempt a cover-up doesn't help leadership at any level make informed decisions.

There's a vicious bird flu in the Philippines right now, there is an Ebola outbreak in the DRC that's been raging since last year, a MERS outbreak that's been an ongoing issue (w/ a 34+% mortality rate!), what about Rift Valley Fever that attacks young people & has a similar mortality rate to Covid-19? or Chikungunya?
I get it. It's easy to say what 'should' have been done after the fact. But, you're damned if you do (i.e. take drastic actions before you know what the risk is) and damned if you don't (i.e. try & wait to get more info).
I just don't think saying that we had enough info in December to make an informed decision is correct.
EDIT: I'll add that there are really good reasons that the phrase "actionable intelligence" exists.

yep.. we had our first case on the 21st of january and the travel ban was the 31st.. Trump was called horrible names and biden still trashes Trump for that first travel ban as he did right after Trump did it.. Regarding the WHO they are in China's back pocket and we all know that.. they also trashed Trump for the travel ban. Yet the Travel ban was the correct call.. that January 14th msg from the WHO saying that Chinese scientists have not seen person to person transmission will never be forgotten.. what horse crap.
