With expanded playoffs, we can have situation next year where teams play each other three times in the same season.
If Georgia and Bama make it to the SEC championship after playing in the regular season, they may end up in the playoff as well, where they would be facing a third matchup. Same for Michigan and Ohio State. Or the loser doesn't make the SECC but makes the playoff instead, which isn't really better.
There is already the issue of playing a game that only hurts you, which we are facing this year, but then adding to that is the diminishment of the regular season games from repetition, and it becomes a real farce.
The horse is already out of the barn with the expanded playoffs, but we need to do away with the conference championships. I realize they are an easy money grab, but they just don't make any sense with the new playoff format.
