From 1960-1969 Marichal went 191-88 with an ERA of 2.57. He had 197 complete games and 45 shutouts. He made the All Star game 8 times.

His best seasons:

1963 25-8, 2.41 ERA. Led the league in wins and innings pitched.
1965 22-13, 2.13 ERA. Led the league in shut outs, ERA+
1966 25-6, 2.23 ERA. Led the league in winning pct., WHIP, Hits per 9 innings, and K/BB ratio
1968 26-9, 2.43 ERA, Led the league in wins, IP
1969 21-11, 2.10 ERA. Led the league in ERA, shutouts, ERA+, WHIP

The Cy Young was first given out in 1956 to the best pitcher in all of MLB as voted on by media. It was not given out to a pitcher from each league starting in 1967.

Sandy Koufax won the award in 1963, 65 and 66.
Bob Gibson in 1968. The 1.12 ERA year.
Tom Seaver in 1969.

All were deserving. Koufax and Gibson were clearly more dominant in those years. Seaver was arguable but still a strong year. Still hard to believe Marichal never got one first place vote.
