Yes. When well executed, they're fantastic. But overall, I'd say the proliferation of taquerias on seemingly every corner (including most of the fusion places), has resulted in a higher concentration of bad tacos in my life. And the cuter the taco, the worse (usually).
Also... if you don't eat an 'authentic'/street taco within 45 seconds, it's a wet/bland mush. If you're taking tacos to someone, let them squirt their own lime on it, otherwise the tortilla will become mushy masa. They don't travel well. I'll also say this, 9 out of 10 asada, birria, al pastor, barbacoa, carnitas tacos that I eat... suck. Most Dorado tacos are good, but you have about 2 minutes to eat them before the grease penerates and you're dealing with a flaky disintegrated birds nest.
Fwiw, I'll still never turn a taco down.
