I dive into this in my Dashboard that will be published in a bit but just real quick on where I think the Bulldogs stand.
Let’s preface this by saying Georgia still needs to win its next two games, so don’t come at me with any “it’s not over yet” comments. 😀.
But as far as the playoffs go, some comments:
1. Everyone I talk to expects the SEC and Big Ten to get four teams in.
2. When the projections are announced tomorrow, look for Georgia to be ranked 7-10 but still behind Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss.
3. Even though Coach Smart was asked about the CFP after the game, don’t think for one second those comments weren’t orchestrated to a certain degree.
Strength of schedule has become a big talking point, and that’s a point Smart and Josh Brooks were all too happy to drive home. I’m going to be very interested to hear the comments from CFP Chair Warde Manuel to see if he backtracks on some of his comments about the Bulldogs after the way they beat Tennessee.
4. Either way, as long as Georgia does not lose to Tech, I feel their spot in the playoff field will be secure.
