Just some early thoughts from someone who loves college baseball and really enjoys watching UGA baseball from afar.

1) This is a gutsy powerful lineup. We have the power and discipline to put up some runs. These past 2 games were tough. I do not believe last year’s team wins these games.

2) This team has good quality depth. I’m glad to see CWJ give guys reps at different positions. This will only help us this season.

3) Gonzo is now a real threat at the plate in addition to being an elite defensive catcher. Coming back was good for him.

4) Charlie Condon is a dude. But LF is not a good position for him. He just doesn’t track the ball well there. Yes, he made a great play on that fly into the opponent bullpen but he also let two balls drop today that should have been caught. Look, no one plays every position at an elite level. Condon needs to start every game. LF just isn’t his best position.

5) We have serious issues in our starting pitching rotation. I like Goldstein. Finley I am iffy on. Mracna is not a starter. He too often gets behind on batters. He has yet to last more than 3 innings. Kolten Smith needs to get a serious look.

6) Phelps and Chadwick need to be regular starters.

7) Jordan drives me crazy behind the plate. Can’t catch on a knee all of the time unless you just want to catch the bullpen.

8) Foley fan experience is less than good. Enough with the band. That is lame.

9) Why do the bat girls have better jerseys than the baseball team? Damn. Please trash our home whites (and away greys if we are honest). The Nike endzone font sucks.

That’s all I have for now.
