Since we’re in the off-season, a story that I don’t think I’ve shared here before.

Joe Burrow is originally from Athens, Ohio. He went to the same high school that Scott Stricklin’s dad coached football at. I don’t think he was still coaching at the time that Joe Burrow was in high school, but he attended all the games and knew the talent that Joe was. He called Joe the greatest quarterback he had seen at the high school level. That’s high praise from a veteran high school football coach.

When Joe Burrow was looking to transfer from Ohio State, Scott Stricklin knew the talent he was. He told Kirby about Joe Burrow and that he should take a look at Joe. Of course, Joe winds up going to LSU and UGA never took a look at him.

I’ve always thought of the “what if,” but 2 national titles later led by arguably the greatest walk-on QB in NCAA history… I think everyone turned out alright in the end!

A little Kudzu Hill trickling into Butts-Mehre.
