So the current conference rule is that an SEC player cannot transfer in the spring and play at another SEC school in the fall. Everyone can see why this would make sense as you don’t want to lose a player and have to face them 4 months later.
However, does this rule actually hurt SEC schools while benefiting schools from other conferences? The SEC has the most talent of any conference. So when a player transfers in the spring, every other conference can take that player. So we are essentially exporting talent to other conferences, while other conferences do not have the same restrictions.
If another school has a need at a QB they have access to 100% of the QB options while our teams would only have access to 80% of the options and that 20% might be the most talented.
