Few items on your friend Paul:
1) he is an arrogant as-hole.
2) he gets paid to “stir the pot” with focus on people and no real data points.
3) real football people ignore his shallow analysis and pay him no attention
4) his comments directed toward UGA are solely to get attention and feed the noisy whiners in the program - same with the peeps in Tuscaloosa.
5) Saban never liked him for all of the reasons above.
6) Kirby doesn’t like him for all the reasons above.
7) it’s amazing that he has a job, f-him.

I don’t dispute anything you said. But you do have to give the guy credit for making himself a personality in spite of the points you mentioned. He’s like the Kardasian of sports personalities. He plays on the passion of SEC fans and laughs all the way to the bank. Don’t watch or listen but respect what he has done.

He understands, probably from his radio days, how to bait the fringe fans and get under their skin.

Never seen anyone who had personal interaction with him outside of his job that didn't say he was a nice person. He has always spoken well of Kirby. Does he criticize when he sees problems? Yes. It's his job. Does it with every team out there.

Ok but what’s this in reference to? Just random off-season ramblings or did he do something to us?

If you said he is the Barney fife maybe….the K family are at least striking to look at

Paul is the Jimmy Hart or Bobby the Brain Heenan of the SEC media. Like all wrestling manager types he has his role. I would not call any of that news OP. If people don't already understand what his role is in sports entertainment, I am not sure they will ever understand.

Do I disagree with some of Paw;s statements? Absolutely. However, like it or not he is genius. He's built a multi-million dollar career out of allowing primarily Bammer trailer park alumni have free rein on the radio while he just sits there egging them on or playing them off one another. He's not arrogant but he states his positions clearly and admits freely when he's mistaken. Nobody on any show stirs up folks as Pawl (actually his "callers") and that's what "fanatics" love. As for "real football people", an awful lot of them sure do line up to be show guests, yes. Saban doesn't like many media folks anyway. So what? Kirby at least tolerates him and he's publicly stated that Kirby is the BEST college football coach in the country. There sure does seem to be a lot of folks envious of Pawl. He doesn't really have nor need a "job."

My thing is = he didn't get known or discovered for his talent = he literally got famous off of exploiting his callers on his show. You can listen to LARGE segments of his radio show and NEVER hear his voice - he just sits there while his crackpot callers make him rich. He took the Howard Stern approach to radio and applied it to sports talk. I think he owes A LOT of these people some of his earnings
HE IS THE ULTIMATE GRIFTER. He's the kid in high school who cheated his way to head of the class

Ahhh but see he got you! You created a thread about him further proving why he is on the air

Hmmmmmm.

Not sure about this.

I think it has been a win/win

Some of his callers have gotten their own gigs based on exposure on his show. And for several, there is no question being a Finebaum caller is one of the highlights of their day.

It also happens to be true that Paul has personally gotten involved helping financially for some callers with health issues.

I think the crux of it is that the Finebaum Show is whatever you want it to be, which can make it difficult to listen to an entire show. It includes hours with crazy callers that have nothing to do with sports, but due to his platform, he also can get just about any coach, media person or conference president on.

It's a unique platform and a unique show, hard to generalize. Combination of sports talk and Jerry Springer, no question, but it works for him, works for the callers and works for ESPN

He is more like the Jerry Springer of college football. When the Gumps and the Barnners go at it, I'm surprised we don't hear the "Jerry Jerry Jerry" chant.

You are correct, Buck Belue has made a career of mimicking Finebaum.

I definitely get the comparison, but Jerry had A LOT OF CHARISMA and wittiness that I don't think Paul has.
