Good afternoon Dawgvent!

I’ve been a long time lurker for all things dawg sports and recruiting, and enjoy reading everyone’s input.

I have some legal advice to ask regarding a neighborhood fire.

The first Saturday of January around 5:00 pm, I received a frantic call from my wife saying everything surrounding our house was on fire and that she was headed over to the in-laws with our dog and cat. Thankfully, my daughter was already over there.

With the quick response from our local fire department, the fire was luckily put out with minimal damage to the structure of our home. But, with the dry grass and winds that day, it spread quickly and affected 15 houses.

A neighbor admitted to the fire and had his fire pit in his grass unattended. By the time he realized what was going on, it had already taken off. Our entire yard and landscaping is trashed, and the HOA wants the yards to be re-sodded.

All of the houses affected are under a general claim with his insurance company.

Fast forward to today, we received an initial offer a month ago for damages to the home that seemed fair. However, the sod and landscaping was not included. I understand that the grass may come back, but the loss of a yard with a dog and toddler has been brutal.

We did not accept the initial offer, and have included letters from our HOA stating that the yard must be re-sodded. An offer was supposed to be presented late last week. Instead, we received an email stating that a new adjuster was taking over our case and reviewing estimates. I feel this will just be an endless cycle with the insurance dragging their feet.

Sorry for the long post, but curious to see what the Vents thoughts are.
