"For the right price, I'm willing not to show up at all." I think

Re: Classic JD line***

I think you stated you took the series 7 twice. I'm about 1/2 of the way through a study effort in prep for the exam. Cram course.....is kicking my butt. I was warned this is a brutal effort. I'll take a few moments break to clear my head but have put in as much as 13 hours in a day. Worked a few days, from 0530 to midnight....hitting saturation.

A steady supply of 5 hour energy may kill me off.

It was the hardest thing I've ever done. We bought or somehow got some old

test and studied them. The guys that get theirs through a brokerage firm get about 6 months to prepare. I took the cram course in 3 weeks.

Re: I'm just happy to be here. I hope I can help the ballclub.*

First time I heard that phrase repetitively, I wondered WTH? "I'm just happy to be here". I was new and these guys showed up to assist in dive ops (EOD) in a very shitty location. Literally; the bay area was heavily polluted....plenty of floaters.

I thought to myself, you are happy to be here and that's because they want to swim in shit? Strange damnb crowd.

Took me a LOOONG time to get onboard with that kinda thinking. I finally said it but, I was faking it.

But I do appreciate hearing the cliché coming from these dawgs.

4 weeks for me and ....I should have looked by now but I think that also included the series 66 study effort.

The wife asked me....and why are you doing this? lol. I thought, I had a good reason. But, I will finish it and see how it turns out.

EOD's live on the edge. I have a friend who was a Navy EOD for...

20+ years. I think to do the job you have to keep yourself unwound or you increase the likelihood of making a terrible mistake. When you meet the guy he just seems like a big goofy dude that drives a BEER truck or something with no stress in his life.

Then when you find out what he does, you say, "DAMN".

The laws were the worse, they change. Most firms way back charged

about $200 a month to let you hang your license there so I let mine go. Learned a lot though. The October crash got me. I got my license in July of 89 and the crash was in October of that year. Nobody bought after the crash for a year. The pass rate back then was about 43%. They make it tough for a reason. It's probably the hardest entry level test out there.

Re: EOD's live on the edge. I have a friend who was a Navy EOD for...

I worked with a Navy E-9 who was dropped by helo into the gulf to blow up a barge (long story but a certain king in the area was not happy about it). The helo was to return to pick him up before the charge. No helo. Barge blows. Now, the E-9 had to worry about that event attracting a crowd (armed). He swan for 5 hours. Helo finally arrived.

Priorities changed on him and left him with decisions to make.

Without exception....wait...I was the exception....all those guys are very unique. If you can figure out how to do that job while your body is being tossed about, other chit normally does rattle you too much.

The pass rate might be 42% real soon. lol

LOL, they do it on a yearly basis. The course I took would let you

take it again free. That may be the way to go if you aren't in a hurry. I was having to rent a room in Atlanta.

I know what you mean. Dude does not GAS what anybody thinks about him....

he is huge, about 6'4" or so, around 300 lbs and wears a ball cap that says "Infidel" across the front in English and Arabic.

He's like a small grizzly bear, but as relaxed and loose as The Dude. But as you get to know him, you realize he can flip a switch when it's "go time".
