Frank Luntz, one of the top Republican election advisers in the past 30 years, is wondering if Trump is trying to lose on purpose.

Heard an interview with Frank Luntz this morning on the Schmerconish show and he said if Trump would simply stick to the economy, immigration, inflation, and crime he would easily win. Instead, he predicts if he continues the current strategy, he will not only lose, but cause the democrats to win the majority in the house and senate. “He will be sitting on his ass bitching about a stolen election at the end of November, but you can’t steal what you give away.”

IMO, the republicans are going to regret not nominating someone else.

He seems to have a lot of opinions on Trump and his strategy, which is job, but he also basically guaranteed a Clinton victory in 2016 all the way up to election night. That is why him and Trump don't get along very well. Trump restricted his access to the White House until a friend talked Trump into letting him have access.

Couple of comments:

1. Trump is not trying to lose but at times he is more irrational than in 2016, moreover he is portrayed as irrational without looking at the entire context of his comments.
2. Luntz is a weird dude, probably talented pollster, but knows how to shape his comments for the audience or network his is on. He knows anything that critizes Trump (valid or not valid) gets him on all the networks so he is certainly willing to do so even if he stretches or embellishes the truth.
3. If Trump was running a campaign like Karmala, the Press would be in raged and it would be 24/7 Trump is scared and so out of touch he can't and want do interviews.
4. Trump makes many missteps for sure, but all of them are exaggerated 150%. Karmala misstep and its glossed over.
5. Luntz overall assertion could be valid but we are in an unstable economy and unstable world. At some point that is going to matter and crop up between now and November.
