Chris Plank is filling in for Dusty Dvoracek this morning. Dusty is always very knowledgeable on everything UGA and Kirby Smart. He worships Kirby. Unfortunately, Chris Plank doesn’t do his homework. They were commenting on transfer portal pickups and they both thought ETN was a huge get for UGA after losing Edwards and Milton which I agree with.
Then Chris Plank starts talking about our returning players and mentioned how great Branson Robinson and Cash Jones are for the Dawgs. I’m hoping Branson fully recovers, and I’m wondering if he was confusing Rod with Branson since Branson did not play this year. Branson will be great eventually, but Cash Jones? I love Cash Jones as a walk-on who contributed while we lacked depth. He’s great as a receiver out of the backfield, but he’s not going to play much other than garbage time as we get Branson back and welcome a trio of highly recruited RBs to the program. Cash is a great asset to the program, and I’m sure his hard work will be rewarded. I don’t consider him a key piece to our RB room.
The comment on Cash struck me as amusing and ignorant. I see Rod, Paul, Branson and ETN getting the bulk of the carries with the Phillips, Frazier, and Bowens getting garbage time early in the year. I’m looking forward to see Bowens running the ball as this guys has that “it” factor with explosiveness. Hopefully Phillips or Frazier can provide the receiving threat out of the backfield later in the year as they become more comfortable in the offense. Cash Jones may get more PT early in the year, but he will probably get pushed out later in the year as our freshmen gain experience barring a string of injuries. Dusty knows this, LOL.
