-Took awhile to come down from that one.
-Just like game one, we took a 3-0 lead. But it felt different yesterday… different, better energy level. Felt like it would be a different day when Kolby Branch got that hit 0-2… shortened up his swing and dumped it into LF. 1-9 the ABs were much better yesterday
-Given how well Christian Adams has played at 2b, I wonder if he pulled something yesterday. I was surprised to see Tray King come in. But just as he’s done since last year, King executes when he gets a chance. I really like him defensively and he’s solid at the plate too.
-Great seeing Zabo come back to life yesterday. For an everyday guy hitting .410 in April, he had been ice cold here of late.
-I thought Kolten Smith had another inning in him. Thought that against Auburn too. He doesn’t seem to show when he’s hitting a wall. Goes without saying that he seems 100% back. That was the best he’s looked since Florida last year. The balk aside, he was in control out there.
-I didn’t understand Davis Chastain coming in, but we had a decent lead at that point. They obviously had a short rope with him and I didn’t hate the effort to keep some powder dry for Sunday.
-Home plate ump was pretty bad, especially with Goldstein in the 9th. I haven’t seen Wes Johnson get that frustrated with the ump before. That was building those last few innings it seemed.
-Radtke was a lot better than his line score would suggest.
-I’ll say it until I am blue in the face. Ryan Black needs to play every day. He’s our best defensive 2b and he can really swing the bat. Obee needs to be our every day CF also.
-Those Aloy guys from Arkansas can rake. I had to laugh when one of them came up with two outs in the 9th.. I won’t miss seeing those guys.
-How about that Foutch kid for them yesterday? That was the guy they were throwing in a four-run deficit?! I have to think they’ve got more bullets in the bullpen today than we do. Really need 5-6 from Leighton and then I’m sure we get a heavy dose of Zeldin. I figure we’ll see some McLoughlin today, and maybe Alton Davis and/ or Zach Brown. So, we’re not in terrible shape by any means, but really need some length from Leighton Finley.
-The 9th inning skewed Friday night a lot. This has been a terrific series so far. Two very, very good teams. SEC baseball at its finest… these are the series you look forward to all year long
