Louisville Courier Journal: Could NIL have given Kentucky basketball another title? Maybe, if John Calipari is right
https://www.courier-journal.com/sto...ave-helped-these-teams-win-titles/9288228002/
Lexington Herald Leader: UK’s Calipari and Barnhart voice support as NIL bill passes out of Ky. Senate committee
“The goal for us is that even as rules change in the landscape in which our students play and work continues to evolve, UK’s student athletes will be able to maximize opportunities while also continuing their education and benefiting from all the things that come from being on a college campus,” Barnhart said. “There is no question that a federal solution that creates a single standard for all student athletes in all states is the best path forward. We also believe that we shouldn’t wait for one uniform federal policy to continue finding ways to support our student athletes and ensure that they have the best possible experience in their name, image and likeness.” The proposed legislation: Gives student athletes the opportunity to make money from their name, image and likeness. Gives colleges and universities the ability to put reasonable restrictions on NIL. Gives colleges and universities immunity from potential lawsuits related to NIL. The legislation also requires universities to educate student athletes on contracts, negotiations and potential tax implications of contracts. It also outlines products that student athletes cannot endorse, like illegal products and sports betting. In the last seven months, since the executive order was passed, there have been 800 NIL transactions among 250 UK athletes, Barnhart said.”

KC Star: Mizzou Tigers showed winning basketball formula against a team it’s about to face again
St. Louis Post Dispatch: A glass-half-full look at former Cal coach's future at Mizzou
A: “The flip side: There is potential to bring back an entire lineup that improved markedly since a disastrous non-conference showing. Four-star forward recruit Aidan Shaw would elevate that group and there will also be opportunity to find impact in the portal. Staying the course for another year would also save the $6 million buyout that could be better used in other ways -- like having more coin to offer the next coach if Martin can't get to the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
That's the case for keeping Cuonzo.
But what if he stays, gets the team into the Big Dance as a No. 9 seed -- the third ticket punched in six years -- but the team loses in the first round? Is the program really ahead? Could somebody else do much better, given the competition in the SEC and greater resources other schools have?
Coaches are no longer judged on progress from Year 1 to Year 4 to Year 7. Programs are judged year to year because any team can completely reload year to year in the current environment. Can Martin keep up in such an environment?
There is a lot to think about. If the boosters want to make a big eight-digit investment in basketball, the school better hit a home run with that hire.
Q: Gordo, can you give us 3-4 names to keep an eye on if Mizzou moves on from Martin?
A: Some fans want Kim English now, but I believe another year at George Mason could do him a world of good. I like Darian DeVries, who has worked miracles at Drake. Plus he could bring his son, who is a pretty good player. Colorado State coach Niko Medved is a star. If Florida is stupid enough to fire Mike White, he is excellent coach.”

Chattanooga 21-5 at Furman 17-9
UTC: “Chattanooga (21-5, 11-2 SoCon) is coming off a 65-47 victory over Western Carolina on Wednesday night inside the Roundhouse in which the team secured its 21st win of the season. Entering Friday, UTC is one of just seven teams in the country with 21 or more wins.
The Mocs are two games ahead in the SoCon regular season standings at 11-2 with the upcoming opponent in Furman (17-9, 9-4 SoCon) sitting in second. After winning five-straight following the loss to Chattanooga on January 15, the Paladins dropped back-to-back contests last week, one at home to UNCG (L, 56-58) and one on the road at ETSU (L, 71-75).”
FSU 13-10 at North Carolina
“After winning seven-of-eight games, three of which came against ACC leaders Duke and Miami, the ’Noles emerged as the genuine conference frontrunners.
However, since then, injuries piled up, and FSU lost three straight. Even so, the ’Noles hoped to keep their tournament odds alive on Wednesday night, and what better place to do so than the Donald L. Tucker Center. Despite the ’Noles' immaculate 85-7 record at home since Feb. 27, 2015, and Pitt arriving in Tallahassee with only one road victory thus far, the Panthers overcame the odds to defeat the Seminoles…”

Murray State: Racers vs Eagles - Part 2
“Racers Break Into AP Top-25
The Racers' game at TSU was their 40th all-time game as a ranked team and the first as a head coach for Matt McMahon. It was MSU's first ranked game since the 2015 OVC Tournament championship game against Belmont and their first win since beating Morehead State the same year in the semifinals.
The Racers debuted No. 23 in the Associated Press Top-25 and No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. MSU moved up to No. 2 behind only Gonzaga in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 and they were No. 27 by KenPom.com and No. 29 in the NCAA Net Rankings.
For the moment, the Racers have the most wins of any team in the nation with 23. Auburn and South Dakota State each have 22 wins. With the win, the Racers are part of a group of six teams that are undefeated in their conference. The others are: Vermont (America East), Longwood (Big South), Wagner (Northeast), South Dakota State (Summit) and Gonzaga (West Coast).”
