After this season and it’s going to sound like an overreaction or me being upset as a Georgia fan, but I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts. CFB as we knew it regarding the SEC is over. In a traditional setting of CFB we’ve been used to this region of the country and a handful of programs as the premiere conference to become developed and play for titles. Don’t believe me check the draft/current NFL rosters/titles. This is an objective fact. The introduction of NIL/TP has fundamentally altered the sport and caused an increase of parity. You’ll laugh but a minor change that is the clock rules has also contributed to parity as well. It’s been a radical shift the last 2-3 years and it’s going to continue.

Here’s essentially what I think is going to happen because of this new world. Over the next 5 years don’t be surprised if we see a new team win the title every season. I also think you will see the SEC not dominate the draft as much as it used to.

Hard pills to swallow is Georgias run under Kirby we all hoped for is over. And the sad part is it was out of his control. People will cry adapt. There is no adapting to becoming a dynasty in this new world of CFB. We did adapt in 2016 when we hired Kirby and he’s the reason we’re here today. Be grateful we saw B2B. I’m not saying Kirby can’t win another title. I am saying our dominance of running CFB ended last night. If Kirby can even last another 10 years I think we’ll be lucky to win one more.

Also this will sound pathetic, but Freeman and this Notre Dame talk compared to Brian Kelley is being blown out of proportion. I can’t believe I’m defending BK 🤣 but Freeman is a product of circumstance. That win last night was created with all these changes to the sport. You’ll start to see many more coaches have program defining wins because of it. There might even be some teams in 10-15 years that we’d laugh at for even dreaming of a title like USCjr, Ole Miss, Arizona St, Notre Dame, or Nebraska etc. This is just the beginning and the sport will continue to evolve into a world where it’s much more unpredictable.

Saban saw the writing on the wall and knew the sport had become something he couldn’t control. The saddest part as a Georgia fan is there is another universe where Kirby actually rivals Saban and Georgia dominates the sport for 10-15 years.

I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see us have a 3+ loss season next year. This goes for a lot of teams. Also start expecting 2+ losses as the norm in CFB. You still might get in the playoff at 9-3 in some years.

Overall the sport we knew isn’t the same and it will feel weird returning back to a world where the feeling of knowing which 2 or 3 teams will win the title next season isn’t a guarantee.
