They used to have a phenomenal deal on all you can eat barbecue, a combination platter. Even the sides were great. At one point, I had eaten there every Friday for a year and a half, except for two. I would eat so much I wouldn’t have to eat for two days, which is a starving sophomore at UGA, was a fantastic deal.
The owner was shot and killed, sniper style, when he was leaving one of his restaurants outside of Athens. Predictably, all of his restaurants eventually went out of business. That’s what I read, anyway, in the red and black. So, it was probably not accurate.
The dry rub is what drove me crazy. It probably had cocaine in it, since he was apparently a shady character.
Did anybody have any idea why it was in the dry rub? It’s just been on my mind lately. I want to try to reproduce it.
At one point, I wanted to contact his widow. She’s probably dead now, too.
