All the committee remembers is the Ole Miss butt whipping and the 28-0 hole at Alabama….
They clearly are saying that the “rule” for our season is Ole Miss, Bama, and the mediocre performances along the way, and that Texas and Tennessee are the “exceptions”. It’s a slight exaggeration, but they view our win over Texas the same way they view Vandy over Bama - the better team had an off night. Tennessee they have rationalized as “well of course UGA won at home!”, and Clemson happened so long ago no one remembers or cares.
Not saying it’s correct, but it’s pretty clear that on the national stage the “perception” is that this is down year for UGA, and that we have underachieved in the context of the last few years and the “there’s Georgia, then a huge gap…. Carson and Mykel are going 1-2, and there are 5,000 5* on the roster” preseason expectations..
They aren’t looking at us in the context of the other teams out there in 2024. They are looking at us in the context of the preseason hype and ghosts of seasons past..
Plus, they are idiots.
