As some of their Cong, same for dems.. Majority is not as far left.

But a good start to getting something done would be to rid themselves of the Hastert rule. It pretty much makes it impossible to get anything passed & completely ignores there are almost 200 minority party members who should have a voice too, as they were elected by their constituents to represent.

The GOP majority in the house could get things done if not for a bout 40 far right minority causing such disruption. Getting rid of the hastert rule, would get rid of always having to have a "majority of the majority".

The hastert rule, marginalizes everybody. Not just the other party.

remember the 40 conservatives in the house were elected by their constituents also, so they should always compromise ? i'm not so sure it isn't time for a third party , the democrat party has gone way left and they put party before country .........obamacare for example . the gop is trying to out the rhinos and get centrist and conservative members to more represent the majority of the country . remember the polls show only 24% of registered voters claim to be liberal .

Yes, imo, every one in any party should negotiate. I wasn't excluding the Freedom Caucus, my point was, if the Hastert rule was not in effect, they could begin to govern, something that hasn't happened in last few years. Our HOR was not set up for both sides not to work with each other and have no say.

For instance, a couple of years ago, or maybe last year, Patty Murray and Paul Ryan came together on the budget. Both had to give a little. But the legislation was passed by both parties.

I'm a moderate, that SHOULD tell you something, but of course it wont.
It's true, the latest polls show 24% of adult American respondents consider themselves liberal, while 38% consider themselves conservative, THAT should really tell you something.
By my count that leaves 38% who don't think of themselves as in either camp ( myself included). So go ahead and chase those ''RINOS''out of your little clan, let's see how the 38% gets along without them.

Thing is, you can't go by polls. Ask Romney and Rove. There are usually 1000 people from across the country surveyed and I'd guess, different polls would have different regions to call to get their end results. That isn't too representative of 90 million voters, imo. Especially this early in the process. For instance, Rasmussen is considered a GOP leaning poll, so is WSJ and CNN is considered Dem leaning. Aren't there something like 19 of them and Nate Silver was the only one (and at the time, independent) who called the 2012 election?

Still hard to wrap my head around the election is over a year away. Not with the non stop campaigning, talk, etc. all over the media and has been this way for months. These early primaries aren't helping. To me, it's too early in Feb to declare a state for Nov. Anything can happen.
