I’m going to give you an example of how hard it is to build a team almost 100% through the portal. A team last year built almost 100% from the portal is in our conference. They did REALLY well in the portal. Here’s what they did:
1. Got a star, mid major conference player of the year, one who was strongly considering going pro to transfer in to their school
2. Got a first team all conference mid major, ncaa tournament team point guard
3. Got the starting shooting guard off that same team
4. Signed a 5 star high school senior
5. Signed another 4 star high school senior who was a top 70 recruit
6. Convinced a highly sought after sophomore not to transfer from lsu
7. Got three more nice pieces from the portal that were respectively thought of
We would go absolutely bananas if Uga hoops were able to pull a haul like that off. The team I just listed…..is 2-14 in the SEC this year. Dead last. It’s LSU.

It’s not far fetched to think we will need to rebuild most of our team through the portal again next year. We can do it and have a good season next year, but it’s going to be tough. We need to strike absolute gold in the portal. This is not a Debbie Downer post. Far from it. I’m still all in and will be cheering like crazy. It’s possible to pull off a remake and be good next year. But it’s going to be really difficult. Pulling for White like crazy to strike gold in that portal.
