They are an older team and most of their guys have been in the tournament before. Some multiple times. It is expected of their program to be where they are.
We are a younger team and none of our guys have been to the dance. It will be a totally new experience. Our guys know that it has been a decade since UGA has been there and that it is a very big deal for our fans and program. So besides the normal jitters from playing in the tournament, we have a couple other factors that can increase pressure.
How we deal with those emotions and how quickly we can settle in and play our game is going to be really important. Getting down early by several buckets vs a high scoring team like Gonzaga can make it tough.
Knowing our guys and believing they have have shown their mental toughness over the last games of the season gives me confidence they will get it behind them early on. Our schedule has steeled us to play any team in the country a good game if we limit our turnovers and make fts. Same things I've said since the first game. And that is why CMW must be ready to sub Godfrey out as soon as needed. Cool heads will be needed in this one early on.
If I had to bet the house I'd take the real dogs.
