which wasn't, of course, about negative posts at all. It was entirely about the scurrilous, vile, ignorant posts regarding our team and program that, imo, are always unwarranted and could jeopardize our chances of keeping or recruiting players. 'Nuff said.
This post is a thanks to all the posters here, the majority, who are here to support UGA BB and discuss the sport of BB both of which most of us love. Because of my past history of involvement with UGA BB it has always been a question for me of whether I should continue posting here. I know there have been some other lettermen in the past that posted, but how many and when I'm not sure. I've thought of changing my post handle, but after a while I'm sure I would be outed. So I just decided to accept my legacy here for better or worse. And my reason couldn't be simpler. UGA and basketball are two of the things in my life that mean a lot to me. There is no better place to be able to interact w with others who feel the same way.
This year especially has been a crucible of emotions. The early, almost giddy, anticipation after attending a pre-season game with GaCard and a couple of other longtime posters on the board. We all were impressed with the raw talent of the team we saw that night. Of course we all know the rest...the awesome pre-season, then the sec gamut. I knew the sec was going to be very strong, but had no real idea of the depth and quality. When asked in a post about early predictions of our sec record I believe I posted 7-9 wins with 8-9 most likely with the breaks and injuries.
Anyway, I just want to thank all the folks I've interacted with whether agreeing, disagreeing, or most time both depending. I've almost posted an apology to Nola a couple times as he warned us maybe many of us were were overly optimistic regarding our roster in the beginning. And he was certainly right about his caution. However I thought I'd wait it till it played out. Turns out, as is often the case my friend, we were both right.
The most impressive part of being on this board is the high level of BB knowledge that is present here. I know so many of us were somewhat surprised by our extended losing streaks as they occurred, while at the same time being able to understand and recognize the main problems this team was struggling with. We all knew our offense was stagnating and not amenable with the talents of our roster. Hell, Gacard wrote a veritable treatise on what was wrong and how to fix it. Most of us were certain our pace of play was holding us back along with our sluggish halfcourt attack. Couple that with with our use, or non-use of certain players and we had pretty much pinpointed the problems. Also, though it was ameliorative to discuss the above with guys here, it was incredibly frustrating to wait and hope for change. But, it finally arrived and here we are.
So to sum up. It is gratifying for me, even though I am too far away to attend games, to be able to exchange thoughts about our team and BB in general with so many on this board. It is a much appreciated opportunity.
