I was there for work for a night, staying downtown within easy walking distance of the University.
i expected to get at least a little bit of shit from vols fans, but wow they are a defeated bunch. Nothing at all. I did get a go dawgs from one random person that night though!
When checking into the downtown Hilton the self-professed vol fan clerk looked at my Georgia national championship shirt & said “yeah I remember back when we used to play you guys.”
to which I responded, “what would call what took place back in November when the dawgs came to Neyland stadium?”
Response: “I’m sure it was a good day of practice for you.”
lol. I was a student at UGA way back in 2000 when we beat them for the first time in a decade & took down our goalposts. i was in the stadium that night. Hard to believe that it even happened anymore, even though I was there.
These days their fanbase tries to just totally block it out when we play them.
