Not sure signing on with China and by extension Russia would do much to enhance Ukraine's security. If sovereignty is a concern, that would go down as one of the worst decisions ever. If thumbing your nose at the U.S. even though it would basically turn you into a Russian satellite state, it would be genius.
Imo, the Trump card in the negotiation is access to the U.S. economy and Ukraine's leverage is having an abundance of precious minerals. An alliance with China does very little for Zelensky because there is no market for his raw materials in Russia or China.
