Delp and Freeling sound like they've matured from the 2024 experience on offense. The first step in restoring the right culture and standard is being honest with yourself about what went wrong. I applaud Delp's and Freeling's willingness to acknowledge it honestly, and publicly. They cited the offense's missteps, the intangible factors that caused it, and also took ownership of their own shortcomings last season.
That's maturity and leadership. I didn't hear a lot of that from the offense during last season - a lot of "it'll be fine" attitude. This group has clearly dissected last season and addressed how to do it better in 2025.
Jordan Hall - damn, I'm a fan. You can feel his emotions when he talks. That's someone who's gained an appreciation for playing football and the opportunity he has in front of him going forward. Seems to have been challenged by Kirby to lead and is embracing it. HUNGRY.
You got vintage Kirby yesterday. If you don't understand that EVERYTHING Kirby says to the media - and how he says it - is planned with a purpose then you haven't been paying attention. We have a young roster who needs to establish a new standard. We have some uber talented freshmen we are clearly counting on contributing this fall. He's lighting the fire, and throwing gas on it. I expect that fire to get even hotter through August camp. Yesterday wasn't spontaneous frustration. It's a plan. Young teams must be coach-led until the leadership emerges. Our coach is the best leader in the game.
Kirby is pouring a new foundation of culture and standard this offseason. Go back to his first 2-3 years of interviews at UGA - he's pulling out vintage Kirby right now. Still an extremely tough schedule and we certainly have some question marks, but I expect to recognize this edition of the Dawgs as the Kirby standard. We will LIKE this team.
