But I haven't been particularly concerned about whether we get Curtis or not. There are two reasons 1.) He will be a high dollar player, which means potentially paying him a disproportionate amount of our limited funds. I would hate to lose really good players at other positions because we over-allocated our resources to one guy. 2.) Puglisi and Montgomery aren't chopped liver. In fact, it would seem that they share a lot of the same physical characteristics and abilities as Curtis. There's no guarantee that Curtis will start anytime soon. Stockton certainly has the leg up and if he maintains that starting spot, the earliest the job will be open is in 2027. I'm sure Curtis's plan is to red-shirt in 2026 and then start in 2027. But if I had to bet on who will be the starter in 2027, I'd go with Puglisi, who would have 2 more years of experience over Curtis. If that happens Curtis will transfer and we would have ended up paying millions to a guy that never started a game. I hope we get him, but I'm not losing any sleep if we don't.
