Back in 1980, when we were voted the national champions, many people were crowing about Georgia's schedule. I was 13, and that natty was one of the highlights of my young life. It was disheartening to hear so many coaches and other media persons dismiss our natty because of our easy schedule—which it was. They crowed about us drawing Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, who was down that year, and we barely beat them.

I clearly remember Barry Switzer crowing about it the most and to this day I've held it against him (sorry Coach Donnan).

Ultimately, we didn't get punished for an easy schedule. And the last thing CFB needs is less debate, so I'm hesitant to go to an NFL model where there is no debate about who's in because the arguments and the name-calling are fun. I think it would take away something fundamental to the spirit of CFB.

So, as much as I've griped about the committee in recent weeks, it really is the same ole thing.
