... down to Jonesboro and eventually down to the Locust Grove exit. I initially loved the I-75 route. I could count on 1.5 hour (max) from Perry to the ATL airport; and, only had to be below I-285 by 3:00PM to avoid any slowdowns. The congestion just kept getting worse and eventually unreliable unless you planned to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours ahead of your flight's departure.
Yesterday's ice storm hit the route hard. Folks were stranded overnight and the scenes from I-75 in Monroe Co. attest to the volume and congestion and how quickly drivers can be left with few options except to sit and wait. While the ice storm was freakish, the traffic is routine. I hope the State and Feds will seriously consider building additional interstates N-S and E-W across Georgia.
