Interlaken, Switzerland for 48 hours....

Going to be in Interlaken for a couple of days this summer, and wanted suggestions on the area. Main questions is with onyl two days, should i stay in Interlaken and trip out to a couple of places, or should I stay in one of the smaller villages? going end on June if that matters.
