Originally designed to protect players, and rightfully so at one point in history, it's now just silly given the enormous changes the NIL and transfer portal have afforded athletes. Coaches should be allowed to comment or not, be it wise or not, and be left to deal with the effects of any comments on the future of their program. If they have something to say, let the chips fall where they may.
It's time to end the no-comment era with coaches and recruiting ...
