same situation as they were in with Matt Ryan at the start 2020. Which is, an Older QB that was starting show his age as a starter. They had nobody on the roster that was even close to being a decent backup in 2020 or 2021.
I really don't think the Falcons thought they could get a QB in the draft which is why they went after Kirk Cousins. Also you have to remember Kirk Cousins is coming off a torn achilles. It's not like he's some super QB, he's decent... that's it.
Can't blame them for trying break any cycle and not repeat the last 4 years again with Cousins.
