It has been discussed a lot, but one angle I want to explore is the recruiting aspect. Our Vault staff has alluded to the fact that Monken isn’t our most aggressive recruiter by any means (this was brought up specifically in regards to a thread about Dan Mullen a week or two back). In the modern game, it seems you absolutely must be a recruiting juggernaut to be a good head coach. This is why, as much as it would suck to lose him as an OC, I wouldn’t be particularly worried about him coaching one of our rivals. Now I am going off of what was said on the Vault **I know absolutely nothing about Monken’s recruiting other than what I read on this website**
If it is true that he is not the most enthusiastic recruiter, then perhaps he is pretty pleased with his current gig.
Also worth noting that at the Coordinator position, if you’re going to have to choose Recruiting vs. Coaching, that Coaching is the way to go (see James Coley).
